Afghan National Security Forces were informed about the event. Investigation is opened to identify the explosive.
„Lithuanian troops conducted a usual patrol around Chaghcharan as an ordinary means of ensuring security of the PRT camp. According to our estimation, it was an improvised explosive device, and more exact assessment will come after the investigation", said Commander PRT-11 Col Gintaras Smaliukas. |

In a bilateral meeting Ministers agreed to strengthen Baltic-Nordic cooperation in ensuring regional security and searching for more efficient ways of exploiting limited resources. Specific areas of practical cooperation were planned to be determined before the upcoming Baltic-Nordic Defence Ministers' meeting to be held in November. Joint efforts in countering challenges to cyber defence were named as one of optional priorities. In the future Lithuania would also consider the possibility of joining the Nordic Battlegroup (NBG); Estonia already takes part in the formation and Latvia has also expressed will to take part in it. Defence Minister of Finland stressed the energy security centre to be opened in Lithuania in 2011 as one more critical sector of cooperation. |

Minister of National Defence will conduct work visit in Finland 2010.08.24

In bilateral format leading defence officials will address international security situation, crisis management operations, EU security and defence policy, defence affairs in the context of financial crisis, and Nordic-Baltic cooperation.
Minister Rasa Juknevičienė will be briefed on Finland's concept of comprehensive approach to defence encompassing close cooperation between defence and private sectors including voluntary initiatives of citizens. Joint responsibility, concentration and cooperation are joined to the end of ensured Finland's sovereignty, welfare of citizens and security from external as well as other threats. The Minister will also tour units of the Finnish Defence Forces, familiarize with recruit and reserve training systems. |

International pollution incident response exercise BALEX DELTA 2010 held in the Baltic Sea 2010.08.20

This year the training event is organized and conducted by the Lithuanian Naval Force's (LNF) Maritime Rescue and Coordination Centre. It will be attended by 10 pollution response ships from 8 HELCOM member states: Denmark, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, and Sweden. Lithuania will be represented by LNF ship „Šakiai", ship of European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) and Mi-8 of the Lithuanian Air Force.
BALTIC DELTA 2010 will be assessed by a board of Lithuanian, Latvian and Danish representatives. 30 observers sent by organizations for pollution observation, elimination and maritime safety of various countries of Europe will also attend. |

Staff personnel of the Motorised Infantry Brigade „Iron Wolf 2010.08.20
![]() August 23-27, staff personnel of the Motorised Infantry Brigade „Iron Wolf " and troops of Gen Romualdas Giedraitis Artillery Battalion of the Lithuanian Armed Forces will take part in territory reconnaissance exercise „Blue Knight" organized by the Danish Division in Germany. Lithuanian personnel will train together with staff officers from Estonia, Latvia, and the Danish Division.
Territorial reconnaissance exercise is a successive part of Brigade's training. The event will involve thorough reconnaissance of territory and application of the collected data for amending initial plans of staff operations of „Iron Wolf" drawn during the preceding exercises „Errant Knight" and „Red Knight". |
