Vice Minister of National Defence attended annual Kosciuszko Memorial Ceremony at West Point 2019.04.30
![]() The US Military Academy celebrated their annual Kosciuszko Memorial Ceremony on Saturday, 27 April. This year’s participants included senior defense officials representing the United States, Lithuania, and Poland. A crowd of over 350 gathered on the windy overcast day at the Kosciuszko Monument to honor the Revolutionary War Officer who fortified West Point against British attack. |

Air detachments conducting the NATO Air Policing Mission in the Baltic states will change over at a ceremony at Šiauliai Air Base 2019.04.26
![]() On May 2 a hand over-take over ceremony will take place at the Lithuanian Air Force Base in Šiauliai for the NATO Baltic Air Policing Mission units – the leaving Polish air Force Detachment will transfer the lead of the mission to the incoming Hungarian Air Force Detachment. Augmentation to the mission conducted from Lithuania will be sent in by the Spanish Air Force. |

The Lithuanian Armed Forces is buying anti-UAV equipment 2019.04.25
![]() In the second half of April the Ministry of National Defence and the United States Government signed a sales contract for buying protective equipment (anti-drone) against unmanned aerial vehicles for the Lithuanian Armed Forces. “We are developing new capabilities of the Lithuanian Armed Forces by procuring equipment for protection against UAVs from our strategic partner U.S.,” Vice Minister of National Defence Giedrimas Jeglinskas said after signing the contract. |

![]() Hungary is scheduled to be the lead nation for NATO’s Baltic Air Policing mission at Šiauliai, Lithuania, together with augmenting nations Spain and the United Kingdom. From May 2019 Hungary will take over the lead of NATO’s Baltic Air Policing mission deploying their JAS-39 Gripen fighter aircraft to Šiauliai, Lithuania. |
