Tradiciškai du kartus per metus vykstančiame susitikime buvo aptartos Baltijos šalių karinio bendradarbiavimo aktualijos. |

Large amount of unexploded ammunition found in Ghowr 2009.10.05
![]() September 30, 70 unexploded 82 mm calibre mortar mines where found during a PRT patrol in Badgah village of Ghowr.
After examination on the site PRT deminers decided to take the mines for destruction in a PRT firing range near Chaghcharan. „It has been the biggest amount of explosives found by the PRT in Ghowr territory so far. All the mines found date back to the war between the Soviet Union and Afghanistan", said Commander of PRT engineering unit Capt. Ričardas Margelis. He emphasised that in the hands of insurgents the mines could be turned into the IED, a constant threat to multinational peacekeeping forces deployed in Afghanistan. |

Vice Minister of National Defence attended informal EU Defence Ministers' meeting 2009.09.29
![]() September 28-29, Vice Minister of National Defence Vytautas Umbrasas took part in an informal EU Defence Ministers' meeting in Göteborg (Sweden).
In the meeting the Ministers will discuss military operations of the EU, situation in Afghanistan and Pakistan, maritime surveillance and civilian-military coordination initiatives of the EU. The leading defence authorities will also look at the points of employing the EU Battlegroups as well as seek to settle budget of the European Agency for 2009 and a three-year financial perspective. |

![]() On September 29-30 a traditional autumn tour of Defence Attachés accredited to Lithuania will take place in Klaipėda and Nida. On September 29 Defence Attachés will visit Headquarters of the Lithuanian Naval Force (LNF) in Klaipėda to meet with the naval command and hear a presentation about the Lithuanian Naval Force and activities of LNF Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre. Later the guests will be invited to take a look at the vessels of the Naval Flotilla. |

![]() Soldiers of the Lithuanian Special Operations Forces took part in the largest international exercise for special operations forces „Jackal Stone 09" hosted by Croatia from September 10 to 29. More than 1 thousand of special operations forces personnel gathered to the exercise from 7 NATO members: Lithuania, Albania, the US, Poland, Croatia, Romania, and Hungary, and three partner states - Macedonia, Sweden, and Ukraine. |
