Lithuanian Defence Minister and Minister for Kosovo Security Forces signed cooperation agreement 2009.11.30

During the meeting the Ministers agreed on priorities of further cooperation and on potential sectors of the Kosovo Security Forces to receive Lithuania's support. The meeting Ministers also remarked the noticeable advance in stabilisation of security situation in the Republic of Kosovo as well as in formation of democratic future institutions of the country on the basis of the variety of ethnic groups. The officials also stressed the success of the recent municipal elections the second tour of which are coming in December. |

Minister for the Kosovo Security Force Fehmi Mujota visits in Vilnius 2009.11.27
![]() On November 30 Minister for the Kosovo Security Force Fehmi Mujota will visit Ministry of National Defence during his formal visit in Vilnius. The guest will meet with the Minister of National Defence Rasa Juknevičienė to discuss political and security situation in Kosovo, international operations conducted in Kosovo, bilateral cooperation of Lithuania and Kosovo, and other points.
R. Juknevičienė and F. Mujota on behalf of the Lithuanian Ministry of Defence and the Ministry for the Kosovo Security Forces will sign a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation, MoU will provide for development of bilateral relations by arranging meetings of representatives of institutions responsible for ensuring international security and stability, education and training, crisis management, international operations, civilian emergency planning, as well as by participation in joint discussions and consultations, and conducting interinstitutional exchange of information. |

![]() Today, November 26, meeting of the Baltic Chiefs of Defence will begin in General Adolfas Ramanauskas Warfare Training Centre in Nemenčinė (Vilnius distr.). The meeting will last for two days with attendance of the Lithuanian Chief of Defence Maj. Gen. Arvydas Pocius, Chief of Defence of Latvia Maj. Gen. Juris Maklakovs and Chief of Defence of Estonia Lt. Gen. Ants Laaneots. Meeting of the Baltic Military Committee will be chaired by the Lithuanian Chief of Defence Maj. Gen. Arvydas Pocius. |

![]() November 25, students of Senior Staff Officer Course of the Baltic Defence College - future generals and officers to hold the highest leading positions in defence ministries and the armed forces - visited Ministry of National Defence of Lithuania.

Hand-made caps from Lithuania will give warmth during severe winter for five thousand Afghan children 2009.11.25

Accompanied by representatives of provincial Education Department PRT-10 members toured three schools where around 1,5 thousand Afghan children receive education. Peacekeepers spent time communicating with pupils and presented them with caps from Lithuania.
Some schools in the capital Chaghcharan are closed because of low temperature - they will receive the caps from representatives of Ghowr Education Department. |

„Military and civilian personnel of the Lithuanian-led PRT represent 8 countries - each with its own customs, cultural peculiarities, and religion. Our aim is understand each other to attain cooperation as effective as possible. Of course, we have to be just as well aware of and understand culture, religion and customs of the country we are conducting the mission in and respect them," - said Commander PRT-10 Col. Gediminas Macijauskas. Commander also added representatives of Ghowr administration tend to emphasise the locals Afghans' appreciation of the respect PRT personnel show for their country's customs and traditions. According to Col. G.Macijauskas, it is an important factor determining warm relations between the PRT and local community. |

SJSA project completed in Ghowr 2009.11.23
![]() On November 22 buildings of Appeal Court and General Procurator's Office were formally transferred to the local administration in Chaghcharan, capital of Ghowr, during a ceremony marking completion of the Lithuanian Government's and the European Commission's project for the development of administrative capacity of provincial justice sector.
The ceremony was attended by the Head of the Lithuanian Special Mission in Afghanistan Dainius Junevičius, Governor of Ghowr Sayed Mohammad Iqbal Munib, Commander Chaghcharan PRT-10 Col. Gediminas Macijauskas, representatives of the Lithuanian Special Mission, the EU Police Mission, and of Japan, cooperating with the Lithuanian-led PRT, leadership of provincial administration. |
