Science and Technology Board addressed Alliance issues in Vilnius2013.09.18
![]() On September 18 Minister of National Defence Juozas Olekas attended a session of the NATO Science and Technology Board (STB) that has just begun in Vilnius. The meeting was attended by representatives of NATO and partner states, such as Armenia, Australia, Austria, Belarus, Russia, etc. At the session Lithuanian Minister of National Defence J.Olekas highlighted that the meeting of NATO Science and Technology Board (STB) in Vilnius gives an opportunity to address the possibilities of strengthening this professional community and the role it assumes in providing solution to global challenges of the 21st century.
The STB session addressed NATO’s Smart Defence Initiative and NATO Science and Technology Strategy. At the second part of the session Lithuania presented its achievements and activities with the Science and Technology Organisation.
NATO Science and Technology Board is holding its autumn session and symposium in Vilnius on 16-20 September. On September 16 the General Jonas Žemaitis Lithuanian Military Academy hosted a symposium on counter-IEDs (improvised explosive devices) measures and introduction of related novelties.
NATO’s Science and Technology Board constitutes the highest authority of the Science and Technology Organization (STO). Autumn sessions of the STB are hosted by another NATO member state each year on a rotational basis. Lithuania is represented at the STB by three members.
