![]() On August 31 air contingents conducting the NATO Air Policing Mission in the Baltic states will rotate at a formal ceremony at the Lithuanian Air Force Air Base in Šiauliai. Norway, the lead nation of the enhanced NATO Air Policing Mission in the Baltic states, will hand over the mission to Hungary which will begin conducting the mission officially on September 1. |

![]() Lithuanian officer Lieutenant Colonel Renatas Chrimlis will begin service at the NATO-Georgian Joint Training and Evaluation Centre (JTEC) opened in Tbilisi, Georgia, on August 27.
Establishment of the Joint Training and Evaluation Centre is part of the Substantial NATO-Georgia Package agreed to at the NATO Summit in Wales last year. |

Lithuania thanked Italy for eight months of security in its airspace 2015.08.27

On August 27 the air contingent of the Italian Air Force finished its duty on the NATO Baltic Air Policing Mission and was farewelled at the Šiauliai Air Base in Lithuania. Italian soldiers were guarding the NATO airspace over Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia for two consecutive rotations, the total of 8 months, with four Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets. |

Hungarian soldiers arrive in Šiauliai with four JAS-39 Gripen fighter jets 2015.08.26
![]() On August 27 soldiers of the Hungarian Air Force will arrive at the Šiauliai Air Base in four JAS-39 Gripen fighter aircraft. The Hungarian Air Contingent will replace the Norwegian and the Italian soldiers currently conducting the NATO Baltic Air Policing Mission as of September 1. |

NATO Force Integration Unit to be inaugurated in Vilnius 2015.08.25
![]() On September 3 the NATO Force Integration Unit (NFIU) Lithuania will be activated at a ceremony in Vilnius.
This force integration unit, which began functioning in Lithuania in July, is one of the six NFIUS activated by NATO in Lithuania, Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Poland and Romania. |

Lithuania accredited new Poland’s Defence Attaché 2015.08.25
![]() On August 26 Colonel Miroslaw Wojcik was accredited as the new Polish Defence Attaché to Lithuania. He succeeds Colonel Zbigniew Szlęk who had been Poland’s Defence Attaché in Lithuania since 2013.
The new Defence Attaché Col M. Wojcik graduated from the NATO Defence College in Rome (Italy); he has experience of serving with or commanding various military units of NATO and Poland. |
