European Commission decision on the European Defence Market Development Programme announced Wednesday includes a massive achievement to Lithuania – EUR 9.3 million of assistance granted for the CYBER4DE consortium managed by Lithuanian companies which will be developing the first European multifunctional cyber security tool set box. The toolset will be particularly valuable for the Permanent Structure Cooperation (PESCO) project, EU Cyber Rapid Response Teams (CRRTs), while being also available to other military and civilian authorities for handling cyber incidents quickly and effectively.

On June 21 – 27 fighter aircraft conducting the NATO Air Policing Mission in the Baltic states carried out one alert scramble to identify and escort military aircraft of the Russian Federation in the international airspace over the Baltic Sea.

200 of Lithuanian Armed Forces G-36 assault rifles given for State Border Guard Service

The Ministry of National Defence and the Lithuanian Armed Forces will borrow 200 units of new G-36 assault rifles for State Border Guard Service officers. The decision was taken to ensure that Lithuanians officers watching over the borderline between Lithuania and Belarus have up-to-date equipment.

On June 23 Minister of National Defence Arvydas Anušauskas, Chief of Defence of Lithuania Lt Gen Valdemaras Rupšys and Chairman of the Supreme Council – Reconstituent Seimas of Lithuania Prof Vytautas Landsbergis laid flower wreaths at the 23 June 1941 Uprising memorial plaque in tribute to its participants on the 80th anniversary of the uprising against the occupying Soviet rule. The memorial plaque marks a building on Gedimino av. that served as the anti-Soviet June Uprising organizational headquarters.
