On September 30 the Defence Materiel Agency under the Ministry of National Defence signed a contract with Germany’s Heckler & Koch GmbH on procurement of additional amount of G-36 assault rifles.

On September 25 Vice Minister of National Defence Margiris Abukevičius took part at DV Day of the UK-led Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF) Exercise Joint Protector 2021 in Sweden. According to Vice Minister, the exercise is a very important stage of JEF development which results in a substantial contribution to European security, and as for Lithuania, it is one of the primary means of response to any kind of crisis.

Preparations for the fourth rotation of the Lithuanian-initiated and coordinated European Union Permanent Structure Cooperation Cyber Rapid Response Teams projects in 2022 was discussed in Vilnius. The CRRT is a pool of experts from all six member state participants: Lithuania, Poland, Netherlands, Romania, Croatia, Estonia. It is led by Poland in 2021 and Slovenia has voiced an intent to change its observer status into member.

On September 24 he bestowed a Ministry of National Defence Medal on Commander of the Bundeswehr Joint Forces Operations Command Lieutenant General Erich Pfeffer.

September 24, Coherent Resilience 2021 Balticׅs, an international table-top exercise based at the NATO Energy Security Centre of Excellence (NATO ENSEC COE) wrapped in Vilnius. It trained 100 participants from 12 countries to enhance the resilience of the Baltic electricity power supply against hybrid attacks which is particularly relevant to the ongoing Baltic electricity grid synchronization to Continental European network with a disconnect from the Russian Federation-run BRELL grid in view by 2025.

September 23,Vice Minister of National Defence Vilius Semeška and a team of Defence Materiel Agency under the Lithuanian MoD experts met with representatives of U.S. defence companies – Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Oshkosh, and Raytheon – to discuss the Lithuanian Armed Forces projects currently underway and planned acquisitions. The largest U.S. defence companies manufacture military equipment that the Lithuanian Armed Forces is acquiring: Javelin anti-tank systems, Black Hawk helicopters, weaponry for the Vilkas Infantry Fighting Vehicles, Joint Light Tactical Vehicles.
